Hand-operated swivel benders are machine tools used in sheet metal fabrication to bend flat workpieces. Unlike die benders, they do not bend the workpiece between a movable upper beam and a fixed lower beam, but by placing the workpiece on a pivoting bending bar and then moving the bar by hand to bend the workpiece. Hand-operated swing benders are easy to use and require no special knowledge or skill. They are usually less expensive than press brakes and do not require a power supply. However, they have the disadvantage of not being able to produce as high a bending force as press brakes and are therefore not suitable for thicker or harder materials. Hand-operated swivel benders come in a variety of sizes and configurations to meet the needs of different applications. For example, there are portable models that can be easily transported, as well as larger machines that are mounted on a fixed location and offer greater bending capacity.
